The dying words

I’ve always known that death would come.
Sooner to others than to some.
But who was I to think I’d know;
How very quickly the years would go?

I’m lying here; A weakened man.
Seeing the bitter truth of a lifespan.
There’s only one single wish before eternal sleep;
That these small words in mind you’ll keep:

“Death is common to us all;
Each and one will someday fall.”
