The night sang one last song
in whirly waves over the sand

as They have created me
I was there to greet the dawn

invited to meet the coolness
of the wind and the confidence of the beach

the skin chilly without the cold
black flies awakened from the swells



Rumble into me, great Sea
blow all hesitation of embarrassment extinct

calls to prayer to the big deaf and mute
senses obey a whispered tale

the face of all lovemaking above the surface
I depend on You without defence

my tea I had in the warmth of my bed
before I came, before this dawning



all over my body the foam of saltness
ticklings in dance and elusiveness

the freedom which You buried, Sea and yearning
I take into my depths as right now in Yours

to the shaded eye I am beautiful
escaped to be lost in revival

what does Your waves together keep, O Sea
is my submission Your cemented greatness?



Seaweed my calves like veils beclothes
and to taste them are like sweet kisses

cradle my wave, find the path for one lost
now a rain for the summoning of all beings

I turn around and at morning rest
if I awake perhaps my memory will forget

there I sip the drops upon my arm
burn my tranquility from the womb of the Sea



When the wind comes
I am hidden in the sand
and the Sea is within me
