as the sun sets
by the horizon
after the break of night
I watch you stumble in the dark
out of your bed
barely awake
alive but dead
like a zombie
you thirst for life
and if I could speak I would've asked you
man, what do you do in the daylight?
nothing I guess
'cause you're always sleeping
shaking in your bed screaming
dreaming nightmares
until you wake yourself up
almost drowning in the tears you've been crying
all night
you ask me if it's friday
staring at me for a while
and then you realize it's monday
silently you sigh and shrug your shoulder
opening another bottle of whiskey
and you drink till you're happy to be here
with sadness in your eyes
and some sort of longing
you look out from your window
on a world as dark as your petty heart
and then you pick up your pen
trying to put down your feelings on a piece of paper
your words are lonely and filled with sorrow
just like you
and the tears
they run
down alongside your cheeks
and you scream
in anger
punching the wall with all your might
untill the blood streams from your battered knuckles
and after I'd watched you
making a fool of the moon tonight
you curled into a tiny ball on the floor
sobbing for breath
until you passed out
in a pool of tears and blood
dreaming about never waking up
again
