I was privileged enough to accompany my son's wife to her family in Arkansas one year which gave to me ineradicable inspiration especially with her uncle and aunt Gerald and Nancy, on her father´s side

We had been on a roadtrip for days from California and

slept in motels and walked the puppies

which the parents of my son's wife were to give away



We arrived at Gerald and Nancy's place late at night



It was dark and only the fireflies shone

Their cabin was small and narrow

but filled with hospitability through and through


There were to be a big family gathering

in a rented park so there would be a few

who would be sheltered in that cabin that night


Woke up early that morning

and went out into the sun

and the little tiny red bird


which is similar to the piranga rubia

met with me as a greeting

from above "the father of the heavenly light"


Every morning the same...

Me being the first one up

and out into the garden


In the evening the family gathered outside

to country music, guitar and singing

quite special for this family at twilight


first their "catfish" was fried

in a very good atmosphere

the parents of my son's wife as newly beloved


caressing eachother and I

experienced in it all a pain that I

never got to experience the same with my own parents


Gerald and Nancy, they had a hard life

but the intriguing thing was that they never got the bitterness

but chose love's path through every hardship


Now as new challenges encountered them on life's path

I want to pray for them so that God will stand by them in everything

and prepare solutions to overcome all the difficulties


in faith, hope and love cause greatest of all is love

I have a sunbonnet bought here as a token , a t-shirt

and a coffee mug with Arkansas on it


The coffee mug wants to remind me of Gerald who

always walked about with his coffee mug with a lid on it

and spread the calm, love, tranquility and harmony


and Nancy who enlightened

with her priceless smile

to understanding and laughter


love, love and yet again love

reigned in this homestead and that is what

I was taking with me to Sweden in remembrance
