A mirage, the shimmering island

behind the shadows of the reeds

where the lake is at its deepest deep

and the darkest darkness of the seabed

precipitates steep

Blinded by the magical glimmering of the sea

I meet the rolling surge of the wave

which takes me where my thought-waves are at peace

Among the flotsam and jetsam, the heliophobic noctuid moths

I contemplate the moonlight and listen

to the leaves shivering in the ripple of the eve;

and learn how many things life has taught me
