Then, now and forever, a raven wept
Their tear dropped down like an egg
into the abyssal blackness
of the ocean
There, on the surface where it landed,
rhizomes, vines, stems and wires spread,
searching new connections,
deep down to the
screaming seabed
From them there came flowers and thorns and
among them,
a serpent
was born
On the surface of the sea
waves were singing
So they began to dance
As they moved to the orchestral sounds
the serpent grew and grew
and a friend emerged, dancing in their footstep
Oh, what a pleasure they felt,
could it be
love?
The realm of the serpent fell,
it smelled, it trembled
It played
It danced
It burned and steamed
of desire
So,
the serpent chewed and chewed
Until they realised
the Other was their own tail
So,
the serpent screwed and screwed
watching their body become a knot
feeling their organs
disappear
Their organless dance made the ocean
tremble
New colours shone and
the laughter of the serpent
made the flowers weep
as they sang:
“Oh, how beautiful it is
to see loneliness fall down
on itself”
