Deck of cards by luck

As the fool stumbles among the tombstones;
the lady of lilies lies beneath a tendril of wine
and deep down in the dungeons of the castle
the serpents crawl among toothless skulls.
Magicians obey the king of salted silvermines
but the queen knows the fact of a truce
and she calls the crow for roasted crumbs
as the eagle of thorns shapes the churchyard;
where the fool is fiddling with his thumbs
and the undertaker sings a cottonmouth blues.
---
Lady of lilies will be carried to the window of the knight
by the snake from the darkest jail
and the toothless skulls will shatter of laughter.
