everyday
I wake up to
the thought of you
hugging my pillow
whispering your name
wishing you were here

a quick shower to wake up my senses
cold water running down my body
a chill through my spine
freezing, shivering
I need to feel alive
when you're not here by my side

then I get dressed
put on my old shoes
and then I walk to the bus
through the fire
through the rain
and all I can think of
is you
cause if you were here
it would be a sunny day

I work nine hours
that's nine hours consisting of thoughts of you
I wonder what you do
how you feel
if you're thinking of me
and I wish that I could be with you
instead of being so far away

and when I come home
you're usually at work by then
so I wait
I wait for you to send me a message on the phone
and when you do
I always smile
with a tear in my eye
cause I miss you so

and some days
I get to hear your voice in the telephone
and when I do
I just feel like the world stops
and I feel my heartbeat beating faster

you make me so happy
simply by breathing in my ear
cause if I close my eyes
then
it almost feels like you were here

and every night
when I go to bed
I put out the lights
lying there in the dark
just hugging my pillow
wishing I was holding you
touching you
kissing you
just being with you
that would mean the world to me

and i'd give anything to have you here
to run my fingers through your long red hair
to hold you close and pull you near
whispering the deepest poetry of my heart in your ear

I'm longing for your touch
your sweet embrace
my sanctuary
in your arms

we're miles apart
but so close by heart
