Sång från '84. Raka rör om historien om Jona. Om än i lite modernare tappning. Finns på min heminspelade platta ''Twilight Visions''. Spelades in på 4 kanals Tascam. Med endast elgitarr och min röst som försökte låta symfonirock. Och en liten sensmora

JONAH

Jonah was laying on the beach
somewhere 'round Joppa Bay.
The people all around him were bathing in the sun,
and the kids building castles of clay.

Suddenly he heard a strange voice shout,
as he lied there gazing at the sun.
He heard it clear and without no doubt
cause this was what the Lord commanded.
He heard it clear and without no doubt
cause this was what the Lord commanded.

JONAH!
GO TO NINEVEH!

He turned his face away from the Lord
and tried to escape His will.
The Lord said Nineveh, but Jonah said: No!
But o Tarsis I will go! To Nineveh no, but to Tarsis I go!
You could see his pride really grow.

So he buyes a ticket and gets onboard,
and tha ship left the harbour.
He thinks he's saved from the sword of the Lord,
but the sky is turned to black.
The storm is hard and the crew is rude,
so they dump him from the deck.
And Jonah is sinkin' quite quick.

A fish swallowed him half the way down
to the bottom of the sea.
Now he sits there in the belly with seaweed on his head.
And prayin': Lord help me!
It's darkness all around him and a terrible smell.
''Lord please send me not to Hell!''

Three days and nights he sits there crying,
but still he got some hope.
To see the Lord someday again, cause this is not a joke.

He asked for repentance and grace from the Lord,
and he said: ''I want to obey!''
Cause with a humble heart is the right way to start,
to follow a command from the Lord.

So the fish that had swallowed him spit him up,
I believe he tasted bad.
By the Lords command, there again he stand,
on the beach in the gentle breeze.

You maybe wondering why I described Jonahs try
to escape the will of God?
But one thing we must know, is that we have to grow.
So we can fit in to His will.

But if we refuse, God has to choose
the instrument He's using.
We don't know the reasons and even know why,
about His choosin'.
So when the Lord starts usin' you, it's better to be wise.
He could have used an octopus instead,
that wouldn't have been so nice.
